Child Safety Standards
MemoryLane is developed and operated by a small independent team. While we may not have the extensive resources of large corporations, we are deeply committed to providing a safe environment for all users and maintaining strict policies against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). Our platform is designed with privacy-first principles, focusing on private friend-to-friend memory sharing rather than public social networking.
1. Zero-Tolerance Policy
MemoryLane maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against child sexual abuse and exploitation. We prohibit:
- Any content depicting, promoting, or facilitating child sexual abuse or exploitation
- Grooming behaviors or attempts to contact minors for inappropriate purposes
- Sharing, trading, or distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
- Any attempt to sexualize children or engage in predatory behavior
Violations of this policy will result in immediate account termination and reporting to appropriate authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement agencies.
2. Age Requirements & User Responsibility
MemoryLane has the following age requirements:
- Minimum age of 13 years (16 years in applicable EU jurisdictions)
- Users must confirm they meet the minimum age during registration
- Terms of Service clearly state age requirements
As a small team, we rely on user honesty and community reporting for age verification. If we become aware of any user under the minimum age through reports or evidence, we will immediately terminate their account and delete all associated data in compliance with applicable laws.
3. Platform Design & Content Privacy
MemoryLane's architecture is designed to minimize risk through privacy-focused features:
- Friend-Only Sharing: Images and memories can only be shared with accepted friends, not publicly
- Temporary Server Storage: Content is only stored on our server during transfer and deleted once delivered
- No Public Feed: Unlike social media platforms, there is no public content discovery or feed
- Manual Review: Reported content is manually reviewed by the developer
- User Reports: We rely on our community to report violations
As a small team, we do not have the resources for automated AI scanning or PhotoDNA technology. However, our private friend-to-friend model significantly reduces the risk compared to public platforms. Any reported CSAM violations will be immediately removed, accounts terminated, and reports filed with NCMEC and law enforcement.
4. User Reporting Mechanisms
We empower our community to help keep the platform safe by providing multiple reporting options:
- In-App Reporting: One-tap reporting on any content or user profile
- Email Reports: [email protected] for safety concerns
- Emergency Contact: Direct line to safety team for urgent matters
- Anonymous Reporting: Option to report without revealing identity
All reports are reviewed within 24 hours, with expedited review for child safety concerns. Users receive confirmation when action is taken.
5. User Safety Features
MemoryLane provides comprehensive safety controls for all users:
- Privacy Controls: Granular settings for who can view and interact with content
- Blocking Tools: Instantly block and report suspicious users
- Message Filtering: Automatic filtering of inappropriate messages
- Restricted Communication: Limited contact features for younger users
- Safety Resources: In-app education about online safety and warning signs
6. Law Enforcement Cooperation
MemoryLane maintains strong partnerships with law enforcement and child protection organizations:
- Mandatory reporting to NCMEC's CyberTipline for all CSAM incidents
- Preservation of evidence for law enforcement investigations
- Cooperation with international child protection agencies (INTERPOL, Europol)
- Compliance with legal requests and court orders
- Proactive sharing of threat intelligence with industry partners
We maintain detailed logs and work closely with authorities to ensure swift action against offenders.
7. Team Accountability
As a small team, we take personal responsibility for child safety on the platform:
- Staying informed about child safety best practices and legal requirements
- Understanding CSAM reporting obligations and procedures
- Maintaining clear procedures for handling safety reports
- Immediate response to any reported safety concerns
- Cooperation with law enforcement and child protection agencies
8. Continuous Improvement
We continuously enhance our safety measures by:
- Regular safety audits and third-party assessments
- Investment in advanced detection technologies
- Participation in industry safety initiatives and working groups
- User feedback integration to improve safety features
- Transparent reporting on safety metrics and incidents
9. Transparency & Limitations
MemoryLane is committed to transparency about our capabilities and limitations:
- Public documentation of our safety policies and procedures
- Honest communication about our small team resources
- Reliance on community reporting rather than automated systems
- Commitment to compliance despite limited resources
- Platform design that prioritizes privacy and reduces exposure risk
While we cannot match the resources of large tech companies, our private friend-to-friend model inherently provides more protection than public social platforms.
